The Frederick Rescue Mission supports the needy, the homeless, and those recovering from substance abuse in our community through recovery and outreach programs and a daily soup kitchen serving 350-400 free hot meals per day.
Rohini Nambiar, a junior at Urbana High School and proud alumna of Frederick Country Day (FCD), organized this Community Service Project at FCD where she attended many years ago and where her mom is currently a Montessori teacher. This is the kind of work, in service of others, that Montessori schools around the world hope to inspire in their children.
Frederick Country Day is a local Montessori school that focuses on Peace education and the child as a citizen of the world. Children at FCD see and experience “helping others” as members of their classroom communities and through community service projects, like this one. They learn about how similar people’s needs are in their own community, in the Frederick area and all around the world.
